well the sustained rancor from certain elements was pretty shocking JohnnyBoston 11/03/11, 15:57 | 2 | Folks dedicated their lives to destroying the site, and by extension, the site owner's livelihood. With ad revenue dropping significantly, I imagine it's become a lot harder for them to make ends meet. Maybe his wife had to get a job and send the kids to daycare, maybe they won't be able to send all the kids to college like they planned. We'll probably never know the full extent of their sacrifice, and they'll probably never say.
At the same time, the sustained effort to disrupt this site can't have been good for the cretins' lives either. Children ignored and deadlines missed, while dad stays up late to call strangers "faggots" on the internet.
As someone who knows various posters offline, and has a certain perspective on these surreal feuds, I guess what I really want to emphasize is the human cost to all this belligerence, and the lives irrevocably changed for the worst. It's really sad, and I hope we all take the opportunity to learn from it. I'm sure I'll tell my kids about it when they're old enough to use the internet, so they don't make poor decisions.
