RE: It's not about the boxscore, either. Jesuswasahoundog 06/14/11, 20:16 | 0 | I watched the game, and your claim about game 5 is kind of absurd. He played well until the 4th quarter where he again gave up, but to praise his defensive play is absurd. The Mavs scored 112 in that game. Was every other player for the Heat lying down on the defensive end?
To compare James' performance Dirk's cold streak in the first half of game 6 is to miss the point entirely. Yes, Dirk struggled with his shot in a couple of games (one of them he had a 102 fever and still scored over 20 points). But in EVERY game, in the 4th quarter when the pressure was at its highest, he came through. James didn't just start bricking in the 4th period, HE STOPPED SHOOTING THE BALL ENTIRELY. He made a great pass in game 2, but that's the extent of his 4th period heroics. Multiple commentators have pointed out that he couldn't get rid of the ball fast enough in game 6.
When the Mavs were down to the wire, Dirk was ALWAYS the guy taking that last shot. He made 2 of them. He missed 1. His greatness as a player isn't determined by the 2 or the 1, but by all 3. The game was on the line and needed to rest on someone's shoulders, and there was never any question that it was going to be his. Lebron James didn't want to take those shots.
And no, this isn't the defining moment of his career. He has many games ahead of him. He may be able to make all of us who hate him eat shit. But these were the 6 most important games of the season, and the 4th period is when Miami needed a great player the most. He didn't deliver once. This matters. Please stop trying to pretend it doesn't. If he starts winning championships with brilliant play making, then this will just be the first part of the story. But until then, Lebron blew the games that were supposed to be the entire reason he went to Miami.
Also, since you don't seem to get why people hate him, I'll explain it to you. It's not just cause he left Cleveland. It's cause he left Cleveland to play with Bosh and Wade and win "8 championships." He didn't want to play against the best, he wanted to play with the best. He thought he could form a super team and win a bunch of titles and call it an achievement. He thought what the NBA needed was the same team winning every year. He deliberately tried to make basketball boring.
Before that, he was an ego maniac who confiscated videos of him getting dunked on, said that no one should be able to wear the number 23 if he didn't, lied to Cleveland fans about his plans to stay, flops like a fish when Brendan Haywood stands in his way, flops and holds his head when playing the bulls and generally just plays and acts like the biggest child in the planet. He went to Miami for the sole purpose of getting himself a championship, but when it was time for him to step up and earn it, he didn't. He sucks. | | Previous - Next | Reply - Reply With Quote | | | | |
