It's not about the boxscore, either. J. Nakpil 06/14/11, 15:40 | 0 | I watched the game, and I actually pay attention to defensive play! James played better than his 17 points suggest in game 5!
Another question then. In game 6, Dirk went on a cold streak in the second and because he couldn't hit a basket, blew a 12 point Dallas lead. What does this inexplicable streak suggest about Dirk's play? It's the finals! It's an important game! Why isn't he playing great all the time?
Again, I'm not defending LeBron's play in the second half in game 6, or his listless performance in game 4. He disappeared. It happens to the best players at times, but he still didn't show up to play. In your world this is a referendum on how good a player he is. In my world it's what happens in sports, even to great players. Looking at LeBron's playoffs as a whole he was one of the best players on the court, consistantly. Look at select moments of select games, and he doesn't.
If everyone was like you, Dirk's 2006 NBA final performance would be the defining moment of his (apparently not so great) career, because he tanked it, even if he played great basketball the rest of that year or the rest of those playoffs or the rest of his career. | | Previous - Next | Reply - Reply With Quote | | | | |
