Here's a few good gifts for cognitive development that are under $50 Billie_Joe_Buttfuck 12/14/10, 18:13 | 0 | All three of these help develop pattern relation in children - two are particularly good in that they promote the desire for mobility.
Jacques the Peacock by Lamaze

This toy is one of the better 'jack-of-all-trades' baby toys. It's made with a variety of fabrics, with a variety of textures. It also has sound rewards when as a baby figures out how to activate them. It's machine-washable, and it clips on easily to a carseat/play pen. It runs at about $9 US.
Rainforest Melodies and Lights Deluxe Gym by Fisher-Price

These have been staple toys for kids for a long while, and along with the promotion of the development of action-reaction relationships (with a variety of lights and sounds triggered all over it), it also encourages the child to want to get up become mobile to interact with the various toys along the set. This one sells for about $45-49.
Playtime Activity Set by Infantino

This set is perfect for tummy-time, and it's design not only allows for a large variety of cognitive play, it again encourages the growing baby to move around, in order to explore the toy more fully. It has bright patterns, action-relation toys and pouches affixed all over it, and it's easily cleaned. It's also very price affordable, ranging around $26-30.
If you do consider ordering online, I'd recommend placing it very soon, to make sure the toys get to the tot for Christmas. You can find these in most higher-end baby specialty shops, but you can expect to pay about $15-$20 more for them. Hope this helps. | | Previous - Next | Reply - Reply With Quote | | | | |
