The thing is, Kurdistan has been considered relatively safe for a while now, it's not Baghdad. These
wouldn't be the only tourists who've been there this year.


Well, yeah, sure. There have been no major incidents there in a few years. I'm sure it is very safe for Kurds
and even tourists from certain places. But for Americans?


It really depends what they look like. If they're stereotypically Caucasian, they'll attract attention, but that's not necessarily the case. Even if they are I wouldn't say Kurdistan would be all that bad, journalists, diplomats and aid workers go to places worse than there all the time and relatively few of them end up dead. Provided they conformed to local standards and didn't hang around in public areas for long periods of time or establish very consistent routines they would probably be OK. Obviously there are risks involved but it's hardly suicidal.
