When I was in college, I used to read a lot of Stoppard plays.

In between reading horrible, plodding, impenetrable, (insert more derisive adjectives) academic prose - to kill the aftertaste and clear my head.

At some point I checked out of the library a copy of Stoppard's one and only prose effort: Lord Malquist and Mister Moon. It turned out that Stoppard's own prose - in contrast to his plays - was absolutely terrrible.
