You could say Valve lost a sale but those clever devils likely gained a new customer. That we're able to give away our old copies at all is an awesome idea that benefits everyone.

I am pointing out, though, that many people did buy the same game twice.

Yes. But! The second time we bought it, we were really paying for the expansions and TF2; HL2's presence in the bundle was just a good idea.

That's a pretty solid business model - make games so good and bundle them so well that people buy them twice.

People who already owned HL2 didn't buy the Orange Box for HL2. In my opinion, $50 is a fair price for two excellent 'expansions' and the most anticipated team game of the past decade.
